The Toronto Golden Jets recently held its first ever goalie training camp. The camp, under the guidance of club Head Coach and 2-Time Olympian George Gross, Jr., was open to all Golden Jets goalies as well as recruits to the University of Toronto/Toronto Golden Jets senior program.
Eight practices were spread over ten days and held at the University of Toronto's 50 meter pool.
Jets goalies attending were seniors Hana Truchla (5th year UofT), Erin Patterson (4th year UofT) and Grace Bobyk (1st year UofT) plus age group goalie Shaya Oghyani.
Additionally, the Jets members were joined by UofT recruits Charlotte "Charlie" Anderson '26 (Ottawa, ON) and Gianbattista Alessio '27 (Warsaw, Poland). Oghyani ('26) is also a UofT recruit on head coach Evan Price's radar.
Alessio, the 16U national team goalie for Poland, asked to attend the entire camp after requesting and getting permission from the Polish 16U national team head coach. He will return home after the camp and immediately go to Istanbul, Turkey to represent Poland at the 16U European Championships.
Truchla and Bobyk will head to the Canadian national team training camp in Montreal in mid-July. Bobyk, Anderson and Oghyani will compete on Team Ontario squads at the Canadian Provincial Championships in Montreal in early July.
The camp was divided into a testing/evaluation day, technique refinement, individual drills and shooting drills plus video work.
Depending on pool availability, a more condensed camp involving two-a-day practices plus video sessions might be offered in 2026.
